The applied dressing can be removed about 12-14 hours after the procedure.

If the patient notices that blood is seeping through the dressing, another layer of dressing should be added over the old one while still applying pressure on the wound.

 

 

The area around the wound is usually red and slightly swollen. Sometimes the redness is barely visible, and in some cases it is larger (a few centimetres in diameter). It depends mainly on the individual reaction of the body and the size of the leeches. After 2-3 days, the redness significantly decreases or disappears, while the bite marks persist for longer. In cases of a stronger reaction of the body to SGS (all substances contained in leech saliva), it can be helped with anti-allergic and accelerated healing supplements.
